"Any way the wind blows."*

This morning's 100 words:

I woke up today with Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody playing in my mind, reminding me of the summers I spent with Greg, my high school boyfriend, driving all over in his blue Ford Escort, music blaring, eating chips and beef jerky and singing at the top of our lungs to whatever was playing on the radio. Greg had a Queen tape (yes, a tape!) that he played over and over, and sometimes one line in Bohemian Rhapsody would mysteriously cut out. We would imagine that the tape was haunted and Freddie Mercury was trying to contact us...

What about you? Are there any songs that get stuck in your head or evoke specific memories?

*Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen

  1. Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is brilliant. Only one can equal it's magnificence - in my opinion - and that would be Uprising by Muse. As far as bringing back memories? Anything by Depeche Mode does it for me - it's Jr high and high school wrapped up into one fantastic melody.
Now to business: I've just awarded you The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award. There are rules in accepting this, my dear, so be sure to check out my blog to view them. Have a great day, and keep posting blogs that spark our music-filled memories!

  2. A tape? Future generations are not even going to know what these are. How sad, although I must say I prefer either CD or even MP3 at this point. No stretching of the tape, and endless amount of replay time lol

It's awesome how memories are so connected to music. As far as a specific song that sparks a teen memory in me...wow, there's a lot lol pretty much all Bon Jovi, many Aerosmith songs, and let's not forget ZZ Top and the song "Legs" - ick bad memory there. A boyfriend thought it would be flattering. huh.

  3. Kimberly, clearly, I'm a dork. I'll need to look up the Muse song. :) I love Depeche Mode, though!

Thanks so much for the award! I'll check your blog for the rules and try to post my facts sometime this week.

Carolyn, would you believe I STILL have some tapes? (I'm a little embarrassed to admit that. LOL) I love Bon Jovi and Aerosmith and have many memories of them as well. "Legs," huh? Men! ;)
